Own a Herd Sire With $0.00 Down and Zero Payments!
A reality check for any breeder, the number of high quality males produced that cannot be used on your farm. An issue for smaller farms and breeders, the cost, transportation and timing for outside breeding from another farm or ranch.
The solution - own a herd sire and breed your females at home. Next issue, costs versus need; in many cases purchasing a herd sire can be daunting and simply not make the best business sense.
WIN - WIN: Safe Haven has a number of Herd Sires and Junior Herd Sires that we are not using in our breeding program. These are good sires that are worthy of breeding, but because of genetic redundancy cannot be utilized on our farm. You need a high quality male to produce high quality crias to further your business. The solution for us both is the Herd Sire Lease Program.
This new program is actually two different programs, so you can choose the one that works best for you and your farm.
SLP-01 : No Money Down/No Payments- Safe Haven will provide a herd sire to selected breeders at no charge. The breeder provides transportation from Safe Haven Farm and provides full mortality insurance on the sire. The breeder agrees to assign a specific number of females to the sire each year for three years; the female crias being co-owned by both Safe Haven and the Breeder. The breeder then raises the crias to an appropriate age and sells the crias on behalf of both farms. Each farm takes 50% of the proceeds after costs are deducted. At the end of 36 months, the breeder can return the male, purchase the male for a reduced cost or continue to lease the male. Want to keep one of the females for your future breeding program? No problem, simply pay Safe Haven 50% of the fair market value of the female. Every male alpaca produced from this program will be 100% owned by your farm.
SLP-02: Simple Lease- For roughly the cost of one outside breeding per year and full mortality insurance on our male, pair our male with up to four of your females each year. The resulting crias are fully owned by your farm. At the end of the three year lease term, you can continue the lease, purchase the male at a reduced price or return the male to Safe Haven. The cost of maintaining the male and transportation is the responsibility of the breeder. Other than the associated costs outlined here, you have four crias a year for the cost of roughly one outside breeding each year!
